After taking the pole positon in timed qualifying, Pourcel got off to good starts in both motos and put himself in a great position to finish well. In the opening moto of the day, Pourcel battled hard on the muddy Deschambault circuit to eventually finish up in second. In Moto 2, Pourcel found himself one spot behind Goerke with just one lap remaining. With a few corners to go, Pourcel saw an opening and drove his Husqvarna right through to make the pass for second. It was an incredible moment in the race and with Pourcel picking up four points in the battle for the MX1 Championship, it was exactly what he needed to do.
Pourcel: “Today was a positive day in Quebec. Apart from the rain, we gained some points in the championship and finished 2-2 for second overall. The first moto was still very wet from the rain, and the second moto was drier but I had to make a good pass for the second overall on the last lap. We should be 15 points down going into the last round. We will try our best to make what we can of the situation.”
