Barrie, ON – Last weekend were the last 2 rounds of the Jetwerx AX Tour Series at the Barrie Molson Centre in Ontario. Cole Thompson stayed consistent and won both mains to secure the 450 championship while his teammate, Tanner Ward, finished 4th in the 250 series.

Cole Thompson started the weekend with a great point lead in the 450 AX class giving him confidence heading into the last 2 races of the arenacross season. After qualifying 1st with some record lap times on both nights, Cole showed great speed in his heat races getting him prime gate pick for his main events. In both finals, Thompson displayed his arenacross expertise by making some tough passes and putting himself on top of the podium. These multiple accomplishments lead Cole to the 450 AX Tour Championship victory and a significant point lead for the full Triple Crown Series. The whole KTM Red Bull Thor Racing team would like to congratulate Cole on a tremendous arenacross season!

“I’m really happy with the outcome of my winter program. It’s really good to be able to race on Canadian soil year round. It will be a short celebration as I now need to train hard for outdoors to be able to keep my comfortable lead in the 450 class Triple Crown Series. Thanks to my mechanic Steve, my wife Chloe and my family and friends who are always there to support me!”

Tanner Ward didn’t get the weekend he wanted but still gained a lot of racing experience. Ward was putting down some impressive times early on Friday, setting a good pace for the last weekend of the season. Tanner qualified 2nd and had a good start in the main but pushed a little too hard and ended up on the ground. Saturday was a little different for him as he didn’t get the best heat race but redeemed himself in the final by giving the fans some exciting racing action. Ward finished the day as well as the championship just short of the podium in 4th place.

“This winter was a good learning curve for me. I didn’t get the results I was expecting but I gained a lot of experience with the faster riders. Now I need to go back home and do my homework. I’m looking forward to the outdoors. I know my fitness is there and I can’t wait to show what I’m capable of on rougher and longer races.”

KTM Canada, Inc. would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continual support.
