Just outside Truro, Nova Scotia is the Pleasant Valley Motocross Park and on July 8, it was host to the 4th stop in the Atlantic CMRC Motocross Spring Series. This is a short summary of what happened in Nova Scotia.

DSC_1360A couple of big factors for the day were that Davey Fraser, David Strang and Brad Lockhart, all MX 1 Pros were missing from the race. The three heavy hitters were in Quebec preparing to race the National CMRC motocross events. This meant that Pros Kyle Chatham, TJ Martin and David Estabrooks would be able to gain valuable points in the Pro GP Spring Series. Or so it seemed; with Tyler Medaglia and Mitch Cooke running in the class, odds were on the heavy favorites.

Another bonus for motocross fans was that professional BMX rider, Drew Bezanson, originally from Truro, NS, dropped by the motocross park to catch up with friends. Drew recently placed 5th in the X Games in California and people were congratulating him all day long.

Little Hugh Henderson (11) had a great day getting hole shots and the overall win in 50cc 4-6 year olds. This kid has only beenPTJ_8679 riding for one year but is showing lots of promise.

Damon Burbine (77) continued his winning ways and won the 50cc 7-8 year olds class

Adam Hilling (141) went 1 for 1 for the first overall in the 85cc 7-11 year olds. Adam is having a great year. He has worked hard and it is paying off.

Jordan Melanson (91) and Brent B. Young (50) tossed it up in the 85cc 12 to 16 year olds class. These two guys chased each other and battled hard but Jordan was just a bit faster this day.

Damon Baker (152) went 2-1 for first overall with TJ Brown (151) placing 3-2 for second in the ATV Pro class.

Ryan MacKay (197) is really fast this year and showed his speed by dominating the School Boy class going 1 for 1.

Fred Roy (828) was the fastest in the Beginners class on a KTM.

Bob Newy (921) is back this season after some time away from the sport and really shaking up the Vet Masters class with another win this weekend.

DSC_0896Heidi Cooke suite up to race the Ladies class and as expected dominated. The Ladies class sees the return of Jessica Longname and it appears she has not lost much speed, she was second overall on Sunday. Elizabeth Burke was flying, as she attempted to keep up with Heidi and at the end of the day Elizabeth got 50 points to help her increase her lead in the Spring series.

That is a quick summary of how the weekend played out. Make sure you check out the next race at Mud Rooters Motocross Park on Prince Edward Island on Sunday July 22nd.
